Encourages Constituents to Register
to Vote New
York, NY – State Senator Liz Krueger wants to remind all
New Yorkers that in order to vote in this year’s election, mail-in voter
registration forms must be postmarked by midnight, October 8th and be
received by the NYC Board of Elections no later than October 13th to be
valid. Residents may register
in-person at their county board of elections until the close of business on October 8th. On November 2nd, voters will go to the polls to
cast their votes in several important elections. Candidates for President and Vice-President of the United
States, U. S. Senate and all Congressional, State Senate and State Assembly
seats will be on the ballot this year, as well as candidates for State
Supreme Court in most judicial districts. Voter registration forms are available at the New York
County Board of Elections, as well as many post offices, libraries and state
agency offices. Internet users may
download a registration form by clicking on the NYC Board of Elections
website (http://www.vote.nyc.ny.us/register.jsp). People interested in registering may also
call 1-800-FOR-VOTE before Monday, October 4 to request a mail registration
form. Requests received by October
4th will be processed and the forms will be mailed to the caller's home or
business address. Requests received
after October 4th will still be processed,
but callers may not receive their form in time to register for this election. In order to vote, you must: be a U.S. citizen, be 18 years
old by the end of the year, not be in jail or on parole for a felony
conviction, and not claim the right to vote elsewhere. For more information on registering to vote in New York
